The Scientific Institute of Water and Land Management is a University Agency, the aim of which is to offer public services in the framework of the University's competence by carrying out scientific research and education in hydro-engineering science, water management, ecology and environmental sciences thus participating in strengthening the intellectual potential of the state, developing engineer sciences, as well as preparing new scientists and getting involved in the implementation of the state and international programmes and projects. The Institute participates in the development of the state technical policy regarding solutions of the agricultural land amelioration issues by forecasting directions of technical and technological development and needs for resources. The Institute carries out basic and applied research in water management, hydraulics, ecology and environment sciences:

• Regulation of humidity of ameliorated land and territories, water management;
• Hydrology and the use of water resources;
• Hydro-technical construction, building constructions.

The Institute cooperates with the Rural Engineering Faculty in organising scientific conferences and implementing study programmes, as well as with the Institute of Land and Plants of the University of Agriculture regarding solutions of humidity regulation on agricultural lands.
